strange pc shutdown

Post by Raksha »

Hi there

I experience a problem with my browser for about 4 days.
Whenever I am watching videos online (livestreams, series) after some time the screen turns black and I am not able to do anyting. Then after like 1 minute the PC automatically restarts and I get following message:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

When I press a key the message just repeats.
After another reboot, the message does not appear and it works until I watch videos again.

Edit: It is not possible to update software I got on my PC. The NVIDIA software, League of Legends, ... report errors when trying to load updates.

"Unspecified error"
"Could not connect to the server"

Any thoughts?

Please use some software like CrystalDiskInfo to find out the health status of your HDD/SSD. It will give you a hint about its state. For me it sounds like your SSD/HDD does have reallocated sectors and will die probably soon.

Here we go...
Didn't know that hard discs die so "quickly". My old one lasted for ages.

But why does it happen when I watch streams?

Well this does not look too good but neither too bad. Probably also a software related problem. Is reinstalling the OS an option?

Is this your only HDD? I guess it's time for a SSD then.

Seriously.... 2016 and no SSD. I couldn't imagine it...
