Laptop for studying

Post by Raksha »

Hi all,

I need a laptop/ultrabook/whatever these things are called.

It is for working for university/internet and such. No gaming.

Price range up to 600€

I actually don't want a Mac-book (excluded this with the price anyway I guess :) )

Do you have any ideas because I have no idea which brands sell good hardware.

Best regards,
Raksha

Edit: Any thoughts about the Lenovo s210 touch?

Depends on what kind of programme you will run on it, for MS-Office it should be okay with a cheaper one I guess.

Lenovo for sure!

This is a Lenovo ThinkPad L440 14" laptop

http://www.campuspoint.de/lenovo-thinkp ... 0-set.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You get 1TB SSHD, HD+ display, nice quality, long lasting battery, possibility to add docking station....

And for students, they give Campus-price!

Please note, that there is no operating system included. But students get Windows licenses for free anway...

Where do I get a free windows license?

Which operating system do you recommend? I heard Win 8 is only worth it with a touch display.

Look for Microsoft MSDNAA or DreamSpark. Ask the IT guys at the uni, they will know.

I recommend Windows 7.

Took me 1 second in Google: http://www.dhbw-stuttgart.de/themen/ser ... rende.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, I prefer Windows 7. I don't need/want this touch-optimized user interface.

That's Stuttgart. I am in Ravensburg. My comment was kind of ironic but I already found the offer for Ravensburg.

Edit: Epic. I just found out, that I have a login fpr DreamSpark Premium for about 2 years now.

Are there alternatives to the lenovo? Just to compare different models.

Microsoft Surface Pro would be a good shout imo, costs around 630 though. You can get cheaper alternatives such as Lenovo IdeaPads, Asus Transformer books etc which are under the 400 mark.

If you are interested in having a tablet to chill out on, that transforms into a real laptop when needing to type. Runs the full version of Windows 8 and perfectly capable of running office.
