Can anyone help me? I have this virus called "System Fix" and I'm trying to remove it. I am using this guide (Link below) and the one program ( Rkill ) needed to remove the virus won't work because the virus is blocking it. Any help? Thanks.

P.S. Vash, you might want to run a scan of the site because I got the virus while browsing a topic here. I also got a virus ( Privacy Protecter ) on another computer while logging in.
P.P.S. If this is in the wrong section, sorry.

Re: Virus
Use these 2 products in combination for awesome free protection.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... essentials

Malwarebytes will more than likely remove it, it's recommended on the page you linked. Remember to disconnect the internet before scanning.
If you can't run the program because the virus is blocking it use this - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/downloa ... irus/rkill or manually close it using task manager.

Yes, that (rkill) is what I download, save to desktop, then run, but when I run the program, the virus closes it.Penguin wrote:Use these 2 products in combination for awesome free protection.

I'd make a video, but I havn't been bothered to get a recording software that records desktop, plus it would take a long time to upload onto youtube. That is because it also makes my internet slower (it would also make me even worse at repcom mp).
I already have MSE, but the virus blocks any program that can remove it, maybe that's why my stopZILLA (free version) expired.

Re: Virus
lol.
Windows + R to open run, type msconfig and press enter
go to the startup tab - disable all
Restart in safe mode - install malware bytes and run a scan.

Re: Virus
New issue, it seems after removing the virus (I think), I have an odd RC issue. I can't launch it (xfire, ect.) but I still have the files on my computer.
And before anyone says "just re-install the game dude", that's where another little issue comes in. I lost my RC code long ago (months).
Any help?
This is a huge issue because
1. It's my favorite game.
2. Can't app for the RC div again (untill this is solved).
3. I am leader of my clan, and RC is one of the divisions. If I can't play, I will have to promote one of my member (s) to GenCom (DivCom).
This can be summed up in one smiley:
EDIT: Thanks a million Vash! Now I know what my CD-Key is. (now I should make a word doc with my cd keys so I dont forget how to get there in like 5 seconds >.<)

Re: Virus
Open the Windows Registry and go to the following path:
On the right you see "CD Key" and the key itself. Have fun!
How to open the Windows Registry:
Windows 7 - Click start and then click in the search field, type in "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
Windows XP - Click start and then click "Run" then type in "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
You can find the key in the registry ONLY if you did not uninstall RepCom!
EDIT: I realized the code text-color was too dark! I fixed that.
Code: Select all
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LucasArts\Star Wars Republic Commando\1.0
How to open the Windows Registry:
Windows 7 - Click start and then click in the search field, type in "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
