I don't know HOW you tried it, but I can tell you it was quite difficult. I had many problems, which I finally was able to fix to bring all the old data to this forum. And I'm sure my method would work with your forums either.

the old forum has a completely different infra structure then the new one so getting all posts right would take manual laboar, and that means placing 114389 posts by hand!

Dude I also was using the CH mod for phpBB2 .... we had the same system. And it's possible to convert everything. After conversion you just have to set some settings and you're done. It's really good!
