The text doesn't fit it, that is all I think.

That's nice. I really like the 2nd one, you can maybe darken the left part.
Try to make a "focus" on the part you want, mostly the render on what you have done recently. Darken the sides or try not to have things that catch the eye.

I don't have tutorial experience, but I can try to put one together. I guess now I need a tutorial on how to make tutorials?

Go through it layer by layer, detailing any layer options / effects used. Show pictures of every layer.

If option is subject (brightness) state what to look for rather than just "set 16%" as it makes the tutorial applicable to a wide range of work rather than just one piece. This is where the majority of sig tutorials fail miserably.
