Gtfo with Alienware before I lynch you. They're horrendous value and quite frankly anyone who knew anything about computers would slap you for such a ludicrous comment.
Budget?
Well basics I think you'll need to run it on decent (medium-high) settings will likely be
3.0GHz + quad core CPU
4GB RAM
GTX 460/ ATi 5850.

Re: PC spec virgin here
i seen a tower with something close to that spec for £400 in argos although u may not have argos where u live but it show that it can be cheaper than aleinware
Re: PC spec virgin here
I'd go for an Intel i5 Sandy Bridge. Like 2400 oder the 2500 with 8GB RAM and AMD 6950 or Nvidia GTX 560 Ti.Penguin wrote:3.0GHz + quad core CPU

Re: PC spec virgin here
I said minimum to play it on decentish settings.
I was not suggesting him getting any specific components because I was waiting for budget before suggesting any specific components. If you look on the back of a game case at the recommended hardware requirements it's going to have end of line components because you don't need all current gen hardware to run it. That was just what it is generally thought the hardware requirements for med-high will be.
Foxy will you be building it yourself?

You suggest hardware what does not exist anymore. That's what I said. :-)

Re: PC spec virgin here
They all exist?
AMD do a 3ghz quad
Intel do an unlocked one and a standard one.
460 and 5850 are for sale in many component shops still.
End of line is different to non-existent.

Re: PC spec virgin here
They're not available mostly and since the newer ones went very cheap, it would be silly thing to buy the old products.

But I never said to buy them?
I said that is what I think the specifications will be. I would not recommend anything without a budget :)

Re: PC spec virgin here
Not really, CPU + graphics card are too weak, and 4GB RAM are not enough since 8GB are +15/20€. Furthermore the PSU and mainboard are probably crap.
I suggest that you build your PC on your own, maybe you can even keep some of your current hardware hence you can spend more into the core of your PC (CPU, mainboard, RAM) instead of buying a DVD drive, PSU, HDD which you actually already have.
That's what you should do now:
1) Tell us what you already have or can keep:
-HDD?
-DVD drive?
-Power supply?
-Case?
2) Tell us how much money you would have, so we can suggest detailed things:
Here is what you need, and a price behind how much you should spend into each part (I guessed 550-600€ since you suggested a 600€ PC on your own, a bit less so you could buy optional stuff as well)
-Mainboard (70-130€)
-RAM (35-50)
-CPU (150-200€)
-Graphics card (~200€)
Optional:
-Soundcard (recommended when you got decent speakers)
-Another HDD
-CPU cooler (you can either use the default AMD/Intel one, that's why this is optional)

Re: PC spec virgin here
Nothing looks to be salvageable from your old PC.
So, what is your budget?

Re: PC spec virgin here
I would not say that, SATA HDD + case and DVD drive can definitely still be used into a new PC, would save about 100-150€ that could be spend into the CPU or graphics card instead, and that's a lot. Depending on the power supply he can save another 40-80€ by keeping it.Penguin wrote:Nothing looks to be salvageable from your old PC.

Re: PC spec virgin here
PSU definitely won't be any good, case will be terrible as well (it's clearly a pre-built). DVD drive / HDD may be IDE - incompatible with Sandybridge setups.
