2009 - "cowmeadow" for flower kids

Post by Guilty »

Can you remember anything about these 3 days in august of 1969 ? Yes you can if you do it laid-back.

Ang Lee always wanted to direct a comedy. Now her dream came true. After 6 throughot tragic films she just directed " Taking Woodstock "

Welcome in the land of the Hippies. With a great company of amazing actors and brilliant newcomer, Ang Lee celebrates 2 hours of historic moments without getting sentimental. Resting on a memorys book of Elliot Tiber she tells us the story of a young architect called Elliot Teichberg who wants to keep the motel of his parents alive. When he gets wind of an Open-Air concert which was countermanded he takes the chance: He calls the organizer Micheal Lang and a few hours later a hord of long-haired freaks conquered the overslept nest. The cow cooky Max Yasgur offers Elliot his willow which should suffices for like 1000 people.

Elliots youth friend Billy gets back from Vietnam. He passes on the elation.

From the first LSD-trip in a VW-Van to the mud-slide, even the toileteman has his appearance. Ang Lee always founded great pictures and scenes for the spirit of optimism in this short summer of anarchy.

Elliot, his father Jake, the transvestite and ex korean warrior Vilma are standind at the see. People are swimming naked, the wind blows through the trees and then music begins to play far away.

After 3 days the party is over, a few people clean up the garbage. The charismatic co-concert organizer Micheal is jumping over the willow. He tells Elliot about his next plan. A concert of the rolling stones for free ...

At the concert of Altamont at the 6th of december 4 people died. The " Summer of love " was definitely past.

Wow. A nice review back to the flower power time. Meadows are shining violet, colorful clothing and everyone is happy. One of the best " Woodstock films " I've ever seen. Don't expect a documentary of what happened at woodstock 69'. You can expect a funny comedy with not too much of useless shit and after all you'll be amazed!

Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, and drunkenness sobered, but STUPID lasts forever.
