Genius... at my school, i've got a friend who's 16... He's still watching Pokemon. Here in Norway, every year, there's something called Desucon every year, in which anime fans can go to and hang out, buy stuff from stalls, look at fanart participate or watch cosplay (cosplaying is basically when someone dresses up as an anime char.). In 2008, there were 3200 people who went to Desucon. 2009? 30,000 i believe it was. That's like 10x the number of people last year. Oh, and have a look at this:

There are eight animes, who are currently running and making new episodes, who have over 400 episodes. Yeah man, i'm sure that's because only kids bother to watch them

edit: forgot to mention this, but there were this group of people who came together and watched anime and talked about it and hang out together that i used to go to. Some of the people who went there, was like 40+ years old.
