Today my friend at school showed me a game called Perfect Cherry Blossom, which is one of Touho Project's Bullet Hell games (a Bullet Hell game is basically a game where you shoot at enemies, while you try to avoid the huge amounts of bullets they shoot back at you at the same time). Touho Project, and their games, are japanese, but most of the games have an english translation patch.
There are also fighter games in the series, though i haven't checked them out personally yet.
A youtube vid of one of the Bullet Hell games
The sound in this video is from the game itself, and there are similar soundtracks on the other bullet hell games as well. Personally i really like them.
I highly suggest you check it out. It's free to download the full version in the link i'm posting, and they're all fully patched and most of them have an english translation patch unless it is otherwise said so. Oh yeah, apparently some of these games have netplay as well, so we can play with and against each other if we want.

Well, i've never heard of Ikaruga until now, but from what i can see of the screenshot in the wiki article, Ikaruga is a sci-fi game. The Touho games are fantasy games with different charcters. The only similirity between the games would be the gameplay, but i've never played Ikaruga so i wouldn't know if it's exactly the same.Ridley wrote:This game is basically a clone of Ikaruga, one of the hardest games...ever
@Jones: This vid. is of a boss battle, so you have to avoid pretty much everything. However, when you play against normal enemies who are alot easier to destroy, they will sometimes drop little red and blue squares which are powerups. These you should try to collect. You'll be able to figure it out pretty soon after you start playing
@Nox: idk, i only found out about these games yesterday, and at the time i had xfire turned off.
btw, i forgot to mention, but Touho's bullet hell games support gamepads. I play with my xbox 360 controller, and a friend of mine uses his ps2 controller.

Of course i talk about gameplay. Who cares about story or setting in such an arcade game? :PNight8lade wrote:The only similirity between the games would be the gameplay, but i've never played Ikaruga so i wouldn't know if it's exactly the same.

I do. Whenever i play a game, i always, ALWAYS, no matter what, read the dialogue and pay attention to the story and setting. If i find the story and setting boring and unintiresting, then most likely i'll also find the game itself, no matter how good or bad the gameplay is, boring.Ridley wrote:Of course i talk about gameplay.
