xbox vs PS3

Hey guys, I'm buying a new console and I was wondering which is better to buy. xbox or PS3 i would like you just to put down the name of which you think and also say if you have any of them(which) and also if you have both. It can become a discussion thread after but I just wanna know which to buy also say why you think it's better.
P.S. Paying forxbox live doesn't matter to me I don't care I can cover it so don't include the PS3 has free internet

I'm the one to talk to about those things i guess :-).
I own both of them and I can give you a pretty good rundown on them. There is no definite better console, i can only give you guidelines:

Xbox 360
+ Really suffisticated and functional online service with a large community
+ Most multiplatform games play and/or look better on the 360
+ Has a lot of other cool functions such as Facebook and Twitter apps, Netflix movie streaming and renting
+ comes with a headset out of the box
+ Host to exclusives such as Halo, Fable, Mass Effect, Forza Motorsport and Gears of War
- A lot of extra accessories needed (WLAN adapter, batteries)
- Really loud if games are not installed
- Hardware capabilities (such as graphics) almost fully stretched out

If you focus on online play and/or want to play games such as Halo or Gears of War, buy the Xbox 360

PlayStation 3
+ Great hardware power and capable of producing far better visuals (in exclusive games)
+ Comes with a lot of functions on board (WLAN, Bluetooth etc.)
+ Is a BluRay player
+ Host to exclusives such as God of War, Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid
- weak online service compared to Xbox 360
- Often times games are more buggy on the ps3 and downloadable content appears later

If you want a machine that has a lot of features, don't mind the weak online service and/or want to play games such as God of War or Uncharted, buy the PS3.

I'm kinda gonna play online more and also the storey mode is quite short so it wounldn't matter about that also you mentioned the xbox graphics are better so, so far it's the xbox thnx ridlezz

PS 3 is better I think. Play Station 3 is new a have more games or better games and xbox is rly old ... .

Wrong.
Both Platforms have a lot of games and also new ones are being released frequently on both systems. The Ps3 is 1 year younger than the 360, which came out in 2005, the ps3 in 2006. So the XBox 360 is NOT "really old and has no games".
It basically just comes down to what games you enjoy more. Those which are only on ps3 or those which are only on the XBox 360.

Well Xbox 360 does not really have better graphics, in fact the ps3 is capable of producing far better ones. But in multiplatform games such as Call of Duty the Xbox 360 almost always has the edge over the ps3, though in most cases the differences are so small that they are hard to notice.

Anyways, since you said that online is your main focus, definately go buy an Xbox 360

some pros for the ps3:

-You have a web browser (with Flash ofc) and you are not bound to Microsoft-Only Hardware
-They recently released an exploit, which helps you to use all commands and processors in the ps3, so if you are interested in hacking and are a part of an open source community, this might bring you much fun
-PSN has been improved very much in the last months
-Multiplatform games don't look as shitty as they used to some years ago
-The sticks are better then the xbox controller ones (But the Xbox controller has still better triggers)
-Not that many kiddies

If you want to play online all the time, choose the xbox
If you like the ps3 exclusives such as MGS or Killzone buy a ps3

Yeah my main focus is online game play because I do always complete story mode first, but I never play it after that and live online. Also most of my games are FPS but I might try out some new styles like Strategy or something. So thnx keep posting what you think I haven't bought one yet.(I mean the 360 lol not the xbox)

btw psn is down atm im pretty sure..plus psn annoys me coz it doesnt connect soem times and just shuts off others... but i like it far better for story game play

I actually prefere the xbox 360 sticks. It's just a matter of taste.

I have to say the psn improved abit... if i think back to the first attemps of the psn... wow....

But now it improved.....

i can reccommend both the xbox or ps3... but i am a fan of the ps3 controlls... they feel smoother...


If you really care about online gaming, Save more money and buy a gaming pc....

I agree. But XBL still has the edge. I mean there are some fundamental things such as voice messages or cross game coivce that that are stil l missing on PSN. However there isn't anything really "Wrong" to buy since you get a great console with each of em.

Personally in my opinion I prefer the PS3 controller. Also Graphit, a gaming pc is way to much for my budget. May get when i'm like 18.
