For the best midfielders i would say : Xavi,Iniesta,Sneijder,Robben(if you count him as midfielder), Gerrard, Lampard, Pirlo (not anymore, but he was awesome a few years ago).

Yeah, forgot Schweinsteiger.
I don't think Fabregas is on the top, he is awesome, but not as good as the others.
Ribery can be really good too, and Malouda can do awesome match with Chelsea, but both fail in French team.

Xavi and Iniesta both said that they think of Paul Scholes as the "master" and they always did try to copy him when they were younger.

Let's just say Scholes WAS one of or even the best central midfielder. Well, even footballers age :wink:
