Looking for Search and Destroy Map

Phobos and I (mostly phobos xD) have started work on a search and destroy mod for republic commando. It will work exactly like the CSS plant/defuse game mode (in theory). I am looking for a mapper who would be willing to make map(s) for us so we can release this mod at its full potential. With the default maps, the only ones that might work would be Hangar or Engine, and even then it would be hard to find a balanced spot to place the two different 'bomb sites'.

Please post here or contact me on xfire (tagdanny) if you would be willing to help out. I will also be making maps, so if you don't want to tackle a whole map on your own, we could make one in collaboration, or if you prefer doing everything, all we ask for is a balanced map that supports two bomb locations, both attacker and defender spawns, and competitive capability.



On a side note, I am having issues compiling script with my editor. Whenever I click the "Compile Changed Scripts" button this box instantly pops up and the progress bar never moves (it is in that position when the box pops up, and it will not progress). And now also when I just simply browse through textures in UE it crashes =/

What about creating CS maps like de_dust2? Shouldn't be that hard, and they are very balanced and funny to play. :)

If you're able to create this mod it's just awesome! Great job!

I think there are a few maps in the WP4 included that could be (a bit edited though) used for that mod. Desert, Radiation, TXEngine for example. Even WarShip could work and some others that I don't have in my mind currently.

I was actually working on dust2 before I had my editor crashes. If it already exists, with permission of the maker of course, I would like to use it in the mod (could someone link the download please)

The name of the map is "TX_WP_DUST2"
The author is an RRP member, though Punk allowed us to use RRP maps for the WarPack (Like Dust is one) and I think he won't have anything against using this for your mod, if you want to talk to him, his xfire: chaospunk90

Well I went through all the maps with the requirement that the map not be symmetrical, and not have giant sight lines, as a map with these would not work with Search and destroy. The only ones I found that have a possibility of working are:

DM_Engine
TX_WP_Canyon
TX_WP_Dust2
TX_WP_Radiation
TX_WP_TXEngine

If any of you guys can think of any other maps that meet the requirements, Id be more than happy to see them =D

Yeah, mine is featured. :)
For S&D I would fix the health amout of any player. It's normally like the defense can pick all 5 guys from the attack.

I was thinking about limiting the amount of nades, reducing their damage, or completely getting rid of them.

I suggest to use 1 nade, but that can be entirely done on the server anyway (customize mutator).

lol it works on my latop (with 7) without any modifications. as for making a map: Ill see what I can do for you but first I need to finish my exams witch will be over in like 3 weeks. Ill message you in xfire.

If it does not work for you check following things:

- Always Run as Adiminitrator
- Setted "Bumpmapping Ingame to LOW"
- Run in WindowsXP ServicePack 3 mode.

Also, you may reinstall the game if nothing of this works.
One posibillity can be: You dindt patch the game.
