Post by Fallen »

I might not be on xfire that much now because I got CS:S and a STEAM account and it might be making my computer slow. So i might be getting rid of xfire for a while. Ill still be on the fourms, just not on xfire.

Well Xfire doesn't make the computer slow since it's a very small program ...

But it slows the internet connection, not to mention Vista uses alot of resources (or whatever you wanna call it) on every running program and process, and can, if you play on internet, cause lag, or on games like, for example Crysis and Assasin's Creed, slow it down alot, when it may already be lagging.

Nope that's not true. Xfire doesn't need anything. If I disable Xfire when I'm playing, it never changed anything with the ping. I also don't lagg at any way.

Xfire is designed for gaming and those situations. So if you lagg, it's not Xfire's fault.

true but it do slow down internet if you keep it running. the ping wont go down or up of course not since its a small program and the game wont notice that its even there. But yes it do keeps the internet down, but its so little that it dont bother anything on your PC.

But xfire DO need internet connection wich aoutomaticly will make the internet go slower then it should but since its so little that xfire needs it wont be noticed by anything at all on your PC.

The slowering of Xfire doesn't matter, cause you will never need a high bandwith for gaming. So there's no problem by letting Xfire running.

If you really notice a lagg while Xfire is running, you should make sure you're PC is fast enough for 2 applications at the same time.

I recommend a dual core CPU.

Though if you need help with many having many programs up at once its not grafic card nor memory. Its actually your RAM memory, if you have 256mb you can barley open 3 web pages at once. If you, like i, have 2048mb RAM then you can have music, xfire, RC and 2 web pages on at same time without lagging ^^ Never tried mroe though ;)

My computer has a dual core CPU, and 2048 MB RAM. If i play Crysis or Assassin's Creed and put all the settings to max, i will lag, so i play with the settings on like medium, but if i use Xfire at the same time, i have to lower them again to avoid avoid lag. Xfire do have something to say, if i play Guild Wars, which need an internet connection, loading times will be longer and itl lag alittle bit... not much, but alittle. And i know this from personal experience were the only things i had running were the game and Xfire.
