Well to me it was anyway.
Constantly having to take malaria shots every 30 minutes, respawning guard posts and jamming weapons were incredibly annoying and off-putting.

I still found it great 
but I can definitely see where your coming from, the malaria thing was especially annoying - however you COULD when you die have your friends save your life... then kill your friend and run away. you get new ones after a while
