Breaking Point 3v3 Grab Bag

Post by VenoM »

Before you all decide to flame for the "shitty tournaments, unfair rules, and shitty site," I am just offering a friendly invite to this tournament. If you have any questions or comments, please kindly direct them toward me on xfire because I do not check these forums very often. I am merely trying to bring the community together in activity by launching these. Go ahead and flame if you'd like, but please kindly note that I am not trying to be an ass by inviting you to play.

Since the 2v2 was so successful in the end of the tournament, I am announcing another Breaking Point Ladder while we wait for the 3v3 bracket results!
We invite all players to register and sign up for the event at http://breakingpointgaming.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://breakingpointgaming.net/e107_plu ... ?eventid=6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Grab Bag:
Each player will sign up on his/her own. They will find a match with anyone from the Republic Commando community who is online and entered into the current ladder. This will allow all matches to be reported correctly. Each match will be reported with 3 winners. Those three players' points total will go up, and the losers will go down slightly. The system will be run on the ELO ranking system(Real Skill).

Matches:
Each match will consist of a single CTF match that is 3v3. Servers do not matter. Come to an agreement on where to play, or you don't have to play at all.
Winners must report matches

Servers:
Servers are to be chosen by the two teams. One suggestion may be 1 match on EU and one on US if there are any issues.
If one team agrees to play on another server and refuses to after one match is played on their server, please contact VenoM with chat logs, and a win will be awarded accordingly-unless there is a logical reason in which a team could not play the second match.

Restrictions:
No noob weapons are allowed.
Respawn time must be set to 6.
Max players in a match is 6(3v3).
You may not play with the same teammates for an extended period of time(4 games). Doing so will result in a stats reset.
Screenshots must be posted.
Subs are allowed. However, leaderboard stats cannot be updated for the original player due to the inability to finish a game. Losses will not count for the sub, but if a player quits, finds a sub, and his/her team loses, the original player will get the loss- this will cover RQing from matches.

Begins: 02/27/2012 07:30 PM
Ends: 03/31/2012 12:00 AM

Any questions, let me know.

Last moment thoughts:
Mod maps are allowed as long as everyone has them.
It works just like the 2v2 grab bag.
I hope you all are willing to play.
Suggestions will be taken from people who play in any ladders/tournaments becuase those people will have first hand experience of how they are.

This tournament sounds nice.

Whats your stance on people glitching the flag in nonreturnable locations? I'd want to play if you had a rule against that.

as penguin said. If glitching is not allowed would be good.

I would sign up then :)

Glitching in nonreturnable locations makes perfect sense in my opinion. If an American football player manages to hit the ball to a 'nonreturnable location' (e.g. outside the station) he can deservedly get a home run. If a Republic Commando player manages to put the flag on top of a crate that you cannot get onto (e.g. near the trando repeater on Engine) then that's just a tactical decision that can work out well for him, and there's nothing wrong with making good tactical decisions.
So I'd suggest not making a rule against glitching.

Flags are supposed to be returnable in a CTF game.

If flags are glitched, that's nothing but abusing a bug.

Shouldn't not be allowed.

Well thats just ridiculous logic. Ironhide explained why perfectly.. It's just totally unfair that there are like 3 glitches in trando base but afaik, no glitches in republic base.

As a compromise, would you be up to allowing us to make the rule 'no flag glitching' before the game starts if both teams agree to it. I imagine most would. Could screen both agreeing and then if any team breaks it, they are punished?

Anyway I wish you good luck with your tournament it is nice that you try to keep the community alive, maybe I'll make an exception and play with the glitcher lows for this tournament :)

I don't think glitching should be allowed but, its not always an unfair advantage. Sometimes if youve glitched the flag you also can't retake it. If the enemy still has your flag, when the flag returns you have to be at their base to get the flag again and have to stay alive to do so.. so really it can work either way.
