well i dont really care about this. its terrible of course that there were people killed... well the thing i h8 about these shootings are that they always blame "killergames" and all people are believing what they are saying. in school u cant say that u play games like that cause then everyone things: Hm ok he`s a psycho who is able to kill someone...
thats what is really annoying about this -.-

It's a big part of the reason why this has happened. The gamer communities just don't want to accept that games like Counterstrike can have a really bad influence on some people. They waste all their freetime with those games and lose the control about what's reality and what's not. They can't see the difference anymore.

Of course the bigger part of the gamers don't have these problems, but it's not ingorable and there is no excuse! I think there should be way better laws about this. Like some better proving option, about who is 18 and does play Counterstrike for example. There are surely alot of good approaches what we could do.

But I'm against a general prohibition of 'killer games'. (Who does even say which game is a 'killer game' and which is not? This is like the first difficult question to answer, if our politicians are going to pass a bill.) This wouldn't change anything in my oppinion.

EDIT: Maybe making those games 21+ ? Would be out off the general school age then.

Well i think mobbing, social influences, social lockdown, the wrong usage of weapons and Video Games (no, i DONT say Killergame because this word got invented by the media) all together are the blame for the school shootings. Sure Video Games Like Counterstrike or GTA alone don't make anyone do such a horrible thing, but they act as some kind of last resort for those ppl, because they do not have any friends and neither do they get support from they families.
The most important fact to me is not to look at the games, but at the folks who play them. Persons who are much more unstabile should be controlled and pay atention to what they play, while other ones can easily play them without any negative lasting effect. Me for example: Im 14, i shouldnt play Call of Duty 4, Star Wars Republic Commando or Halo 3. But my parents know what i can and what i can't take and look at every game befor they allow me 2 buy it. And thats the problem with most of the school shooter's parents. Most of them don't care or dont realize the psychic sensibility their children posess, and with that also just make everything worse.
But i think the biggest issue for these people is they social lockdown. They are in most cases "Mobbingopfer", victims of bullying, and most of us see that every day in school. I consider a lil bit nagging and talking about someone around his back pretty normal, but as soon as it reaches the point where the victim just can't stand it any more i think too much is too much.

BOTTOMLINE: Don't blame the games alone, but don't deny their effect. Parents should pay attention what theit childeren play and decide what they can't take or not.

Of course it's a fact that "killergames" can have a bad influence to young people playing these games. But with only playing them, a normal human won't start killing others,it's proved by many experts. That guy, who ran amok had psychical problems, had depressions, was a outsider...that mix of all this "bad" influence made him to run amok.

Hmmmz... but often its that the parents think his son is an angel...
The child eats with his parents etc, like a normal guy, so u dont asee that he is gonna to kill...
And i dont think its why he got bully or sth...
I THINK OTHER GUYS FORCE HIM TO DO THIS, so he didnt want to do it but he had to :s
My opinion. So i think this killergames like counter strike contributed only a little part.
You here always in the TV when reporter ask pupils the pupils say: Ah mr.Amok was a nice guy. I cannot belive that he does that... SOO FAZIT he wasnt an outisder :D
Than we would have more "Amokläufer" !!!!
So my opinion... my mother thinks this opinion is bullshit.. -.-
