Inovation: Without it the games industrie would be a pool of first person shooters and hackn slay adventures. Inovation is what makes average games unique. Inovation is the perfect word to describe Mirror's Edge, the newest project of Elecronic Arts and Battlefiled developer DICE. They put out a Demo fpr the Playstation 3 and Xbox360 and i took that chance to do a preview of Mirror's Edge.
You play as Faith, a female runner. Runners are those persons who transport important information in form of packages across the city. Their pathways: The rooftops of skyscrapers. The reason: The authoritys conroll all data transfare in the city and even the people by watching them through cameras 24/7. The story is solid and it's being told through anime like cutscenes and on the fly interactions with other caracters.
One of the strongest aspects of Mirror's Edge is it's art design. The way the city is set in scene is just bieautiful. White dominates your view with few red and orange accents. It's just breathtaking. Also you have no HUD and every move is handeled from a first person view. You can do rolls, climb objects and even grind alsong rails, it all looks so natural and fluid. The controlls are just as good. Almost every command is handeled by the shoulderbuttons. L1 are moves you perform with your over body, and L2 performes leg moves. It all makes sense. R1 is turning around and R2 is punshing.

There are no realy negative points i can show up about this game. The only minor flaw is the combat, which can become wanky sometimes. You can punsh and/or disarm your opponent by hitting just one button. After that you hold your enemy's weapon and can use it until the ammo that's left in the magazine is emty, you have no own ammo stock. I recomment throwing the weapon away after holding it, because it makes you slower and limits your abilities. The game rewards to not use a weapon.

Another dissapointment is the absents of a multiplayer component. You can upload ghosts of your runthroughs and download others to perfect your skill, but it won't keep you playing the game for long.
Mirror's Edge is the most innovative game to come out this year. I will review it sometime in late December. For everybody who's tired of the typicle 1st person shooters, buy this game!
