Direct Download
Hey there,
TX modders, instead of making useless player textures you could make a direct download from the server so when people join TX Mod server they can get the files from there without the necessity to go here. That's why it is hard to get a bigger modding community in SWRC. You could compare it with UT game for example.
Good luck.

Maybe you did but you don't just have to think it, make it =)
Anyway you are not a modder, are you?

Re: Direct Download
I remember Vash tried that, but the very low download speed makes the server look like a password protected one (like 8 kb/s).

Re: Direct Download
That's a pitty, now that we had admin console we only needed that direct server download. Anyway but I am sure that some experimented modder like Arramus, or Sandcrawler could find it out. Even Volo.

Re: Direct Download
This will not happen. And besides of that, my server doesn't have unlimited traffic capabilities.

Re: Direct Download
The idea is good, but we thought of this a long time ago. It's just too complicated cos you only want to dl the map which is running temporarily and you need a bar which indicates the dl status. It's easier to dl the mappack from here...

Re: Direct Download
Would be cool if you'd let me know how you've set it up because even low download rates could help. (Have you just set AllowDownloads to true?)Judge wrote:I remember Vash tried that, but the very low download speed makes the server look like a password protected one (like 8 kb/s).

Re: Direct Download
RepCom won't support http-Downloads. I tried like everything... that's why it's that slow.
And the bigger problem is that there is no loading bar etc. showing you the download status...

Re: Direct Download
Our main problem is not the loading bar, that is the less important point. the point is a fast http-downloads but is not possible as vash already said.

@ Samo
that won't happen unless the admins ban me. Anyway it looks like if you got offended with the post i wrote.

Re: Direct Download
I can't agree. I'm sure it possible to get the http-Downloads working. But how the hell do you want to add a loading bar in the main menu of RepCom without the source code?Hume wrote:Our main problem is not the loading bar (...)

Re: Direct Download
All is about comparing UT 2004 and SWRC. They work with the same engine and Unreal has direct download. Maybe we could use the source code from there.
