I doubt it. Surely EA has their hands in that affair aswell.
Also it worked with Anno 1404 because it is a PC exclusive. With BFBC2 over 80% of the sales are going to be based off Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 copies of the game, so there is no real pressure on Dice or EA.
True
And the people who are playing these mostly don't care about dedicated Servers. Why should they change their type of hosting a Server? They do this since Battlefield 2, which was rather a success

Well, think what you want, I give up. In BF2 you were able to host unranked server, now the 10th time I'm saying that...

Wait 1-2 days after the release and there'll be a patch for dedicated servers anyway. ;)
However I say it again for like the 7th time, not all details are known yet.
And so far we only know that it wont cost anything to get this license as a profesional hoster, so may be DreamPing could try it.

I'm not ready to buy monthly fees for such a gay license...

You always repeat that sentence Vash, but actually I rather trust the BFBC2 producer than you, and he actually said that DICE wont make profit with this system, it is just for more safety and less cracked servers -already quotet that like 4 times..

You know that you're disagreeing with yourself? You say Dice don't want to make profit... so why the fucking hell they don't let us create ranked or atleast unranked servers? Yes, because they want MONEY for licenses. A freeware license doesn't make any sense.

And also, who says that they want to make profit? Maybe they say "there are some technical costs, we need money for" and vóila, you need to pay money "so they can run their master servers" or crap.

They will 100% take monthly fees for their retarded licenses for (big) companies. Private users won't get any license.... they want them to rent expensive servers from the "official hosters".

Only the biggest companies will have the right to host servers, since the license will be expensive, like in the past with BF2 and BF2142.

Nothing will change.

I do not know that I disagree with myself since I never did.
When I look at CoD4 where I think more than 50% play the game illegal, it is apparently where DICE will make profit, with avoiding illegal -dedicated- servers not with monthly fees. If only companies and not normal gamers get the files for dedicated servers, there will be less cracked servers and the profit increases, even without money for a license because people will have to buy the game instead of downloading it.

Now you add to your ignorance some arrogance... change down man.

This is just a reason they're looking for to continue will their bullshit-talk. They're a big developing team, why not looking for techniques to avoid cracked servers? Completely removing even unranked servers, just because they are too dumb making their game more secure? This is actually the worst shit I've ever heard.

The profit increases by getting money for their licenses, you will be paying monthly for.

I'm 100% sure, that Dice will also get a part from the money, people pay to official hosters to rent a server. Another money-source. So if everyone could host a server, they wouldn't have a reason to get parts from the rented servers... but with a license, they would have a reason.
